AREDN in the Park - June 20th, 2025
You are invited to AREDN in the Park!
When:
1100-1500 Saturday June 21, 2025 (Presentation/training on AREDN Mesh usage and services at 1300-1400)
What:
You are invited to a demonstration and hands-on training for our AREDN Willamette Valley Mesh Network.
Why:
AREDN is a modern high speed communication system developed by Amateur Radio Operators which converts commercial long range microwave WiFi equipment into a mesh network capable of many useful and interesting services which can be used in emergency operations or for everyday use. This demonstrates how mesh can be deployed in a Portable Ad Hoc operation using RF Microwave frequencies. We will have a variety of Mesh Equipment on display and operators to answer your questions about mesh.
What to bring:
A notebook PC or tablet capable of 2.4 GHz WiFi connectivity with a web browser. You will use your device to join the local WiFi hotspot and navigate to basic services on the mesh via web pages. If you have Winlink Express on your Notebook PC, you will learn to connect and send Winlink messages.
Bring your own food/drink please.
The weather forecast is for rain on Saturday, so dress to stay warm and dry. We will have a covered area, but it is exposed to wind.
Cost is free. If you want to contribute a small amount to the $60 rental cost for the the pavilion, it will be appreciated.
73 and hope to see you there!
